Summary of Data Handling
- o make the extension work, we send the content you choose to save directly to your Notion account. We never store this content.
- To improve the extension, we collect anonymous data about which pages you save (like the URL) and how you use the extension.
- You have full control. You can disable all analytics collection in the extension's settings at any time.
1. Data We Collect and Why
We handle two distinct categories of data for two different purposes:
A) Data for Core Functionality (Sending Content to Your Notion Account)
This data is essential for the extension to perform its main function, and it is only handled when you actively click to save content.
- What is handled:
- User Content: The URL, title, selected text, or images from the web page you are saving.
- Notion Authentication Token: A token provided by Notion to authorize access to your account.
- How it's handled:
- Your Notion Token is stored locally and securely on your computer. It is never sent to our servers.
- Your User Content is sent directly from your browser to the Notion API.
- Our Commitment: We never collect, store, or view the specific content you save or your Notion token on our servers.
B) Data for Product Improvement (Sending Analytics to Our Servers)
To understand how our extension is used and how to make it better, we collect anonymous data from all users. This collection is on by default but can be disabled.
What is collected:
- URL of the saved page: The web address (e.g., https://example.com/article-name) of the content you save.
- Anonymous Interaction Data: Information about how you use the extension's interface (e.g., which buttons are clicked).
Why it's collected (The Purpose):
- Collecting URLs helps us identify which types of websites (e.g., blogs, news sites, code repositories) are most popular for saving. This allows us to prioritize improvements to the extension's parsing and formatting for those specific sites, providing a better experience for all users.
